Choose your own adventure bag – online sewing course
£8.00
The Choose your own adventure bag is named after the books I enjoyed reading as a child. You know the ones where at the bottom of each page you could choose what happens next………..
This bag has so many options and we want to encourage you to choose your own adventure. Will it be floppy or firm? will it be patchwork or plain? Will it have pockets or zips? The adventure is your’s for the choosing.
Description
This is a full online video course with written instruction and patterns included. Support is available virtually if required although we highly doubt you will have any hiccups!
We start our adventure with a quick video overview of the bag. Claire will run through all of your options, you will be encouraged to make paper patterns and choose your fabrics and supplies from our shop.
Then it’s time to work your way through the step by step video guides (accompanied by written instructions) and choose your own adventure to create a wonderful bag that only you can design!
As you will see by the pictures in the gallery there are so many possibilities and members of our sewing club have been creating these bags for the past 3 years. Each one with it’s own individual character.
You can insert all sorts of pockets, zipper pockets, bottle pockets, internal and external pockets, Snap closures, zip closures, quilt, patchwork or foam. The world is your oyster.
You need to purchase nothing at all for the course in advance as we advise you to watch the 1st video to decide which route you’d like to go down. If you need any help making fabric choices we will be able to assist you in purchasing your materials from our shop or sourcing from your own stash via telephone or in person consultation.
So that you can remember how to make each individual part of the bag again at a later date you will always be able to return to your course portal on our website and re-visit all the elements. It never expires and will not be taken away from you.
If you are questioning why you might want this bag then stop!! Many of our pupils use them as a day to day handbag, others as work bags, overnight bags and even baby bags. They have soooo much potential and can be anything you want them to be.

I adore mine – I wasn’t at all sure I’d use it but it is now my everyday handbag. You can hoy your shopping in it on the way home from work too. It gets compliments from both men and women randomly on the train. Putting it on your knee in the winter keeps you warm rather like a cat. And when I look at it I am reminded of all the lovely garments and bags that were the source of the scraps it is made from. The lining is even leftover from my wedding dress. I suspect you can all tell from my gushing review that I love this bag.
Now for the course – well you learn so many techniques with this one – Y seams, recessed zippers, postbox zip pockets, and loads more. Claire’s videos are very easy to follow and it was fun to make up. The patchwork does take a long time if you go for that option – but I recommend you do as it makes such a lovely bag. I recommend the course and the resulting bag without hesitation.
