Making a MORSBAG

Beautiful Things are very proud to be MORSBAG makers.  We have pledged to reduce plastic waste by providing a re-usable shopping bag to our customers.  Each bag has been made in our studio by one of our wonderful team members or volunteers with re-used and up-cycled fabrics such as bedding, curtains or left over fabric from craft projects. We recently held our launch day at the studio and 11 lovely volunteers sewed up a total of 45 bags during the day.  We intend to run these days on a regular basis and if ever you feel the need to escape the day to day and pop into the studio for a spot of free sewing time, you are welcome to come in and whizz up a few more for our stash.  You will always be able to take a bag home that you’ve made too, or choose another one from our selection. Find out about joining the next bag making day or volunteering your time HERE. There is an official pattern available on the MORSBAG website, but there is no obligation to follow it as it’s there for guidance. You can purchase labels from the MORSBAG website, these are extremely low cost and there is no profit made on their creation. Measurements are not specific, the ability to create a re-usable vessel to carry shopping in is the ‘point’ of the project so specifics are not required. We have written our own instructions that will guide you to create a MORSBAG either using a sewing machine or an overlocker/combination of the two.  You can download it here: Morsbag instructions BTHQ way If you are not local to the studio, but would like your bag to ‘count’ towards the Beautiful Things Pod Tally, simply send us. a picture and tell us how many bags you’ve sewn and we can add them to our total.  Then simply use or gift your bag to someone else to use and your job is done!! (Please note MORSBAGs CANNOT be sold). Claire has done a handy sew-along video which you can watch below: VIDEO WILL BE EMBEDDED AFTER IT STREAMS LIVE ON YOUTUBE WEDNESDAY 19TH JULY 10.30am
